Dearest All,
Well we am here! I feel like we are cheating on the backpacking front as I am not emailing you from a slightly grotty hostel, nor a internet cafe where I could loose the connection at any point... nope we are sitting in Kathy's friends house - David's, in his lounge and I am on Broadband!!! We are living the life of luxury as far as backpacking goes. We have roughed it a little; the journey here has had its trials. KH landed on Monday made, her way to the hostel she booked, which was quite nice. And then found her way back to the airport to meet me. My flight was delayed unfortunately, so KH had to wait for over an hour extra for me.
Tuesday we was spent in the local Mall. And we went to one tourist site... though mostly it was spent deciding how we were going to spend the next 8weeks before we fly to NZ. We decided to move on straight away so booked the 10hr train ride to David's house. Since then our plans have changed loads of times, but we came up with the following plan.... we both want the spend two weeks on the beaches in southern Thailand, so we have planned the rest around meeting the dates to achieve this.
The next important thing is a few spots in Vietnam and Cambodia and the rest is all extra. Sounds simple now but took some hours to get to! The most important thing is NO STRESS so if something is too much, no matter how great we have heard it is, we just ain't going to do it. In reality each country needs a month, so we are all about having fun.
And so with that in mind we are soaking up the luxury for another 4 days while David takes us out in his car, and then he is going to drive us to the capital of Loas. This is a huge relief for us and helps to reduce KH's stress levels for now!
Hope all is well at home,
love to all,
Izzie

It's ok, I'm just jealous! Keep you on a troshin'
we can't walk everywhere silly cause its too far!
We have been relaxing so well at David's house, its been a nice intro to travelling though it doesnt really give us an idea of what is to come!
Today we had Nook (Davids thai bride) cook dinner for us and it was so lovely. Egg fried rice with prawns freshly cooked, brill!

Hi Izzie, I am afraid I must agree with your dad - I too thought backpackers trudged from hostel to hostel with their worldly possessions on their backs - and what's this, 2 weeks on the beach....mind you, it doesn't surprise me that plans have changed....so long as you have a great time and keep safe. xxxx
